There are two
main categories for lawyer’s career that are criminal lawyers and
corporate/business lawyers. Corporate lawyers specialize in corporate
laws and criminal lawyers specialize to plead on behalf of a criminal in court.

lawyer gives legal advice, proofreads business documents and negotiates
business contracts like sales or transfer of ownership of a business etc. They
guide business people in understanding corporate laws like licensing needs,
security, tax payments, registration of a business etc. Corporate lawyer is
responsible to make sure that a deal made by his client is legal in all
respects. A corporate lawyer can work as an individual entity or can get
employed in a firm. Corporate lawyers can also organize their own firm having
more than one lawyer to deal with more clients. Decision is passed to a
corporate lawyer for legality check before it is finalized.
A corporate
lawyer has to provide set of outlines that the corporate has to follow for
implementation of a decision. He maintains all legal documents of a company. He
visits court off and on for his clients. Skills required to become a lawyer
include strong communication skills, advising skills, convincing skills,
complete knowledge of laws, critical thinking abilities, active listening
skills, problem solving skills, research oriented, decision making and judgement
skills.

Lawyers
A criminal
lawyer will defend those who are accused of theft or other crimes. A criminal
lawyer may work as a private lawyer or can be a permanent state lawyer. A
criminal lawyer can also join job provided by federal, state or local
government, non-profit organizations etc. His main duties will include fact finding,
jury selection, trial and sentencing etc. Job of a criminal lawyer is often in
courtrooms where he represents a client who has committed some crime or against
a criminal. He is responsible to arrange witnesses for each case.
Requirements
to Become Lawyer
Basic
requirements to become a lawyer are same for both corporate and criminal
lawyers. It is necessary for a candidate to complete years in college and clear
all law subjects. Like other candidates they are also required to make their
resumes stating their skills and work experiences. They also have to follow
same rules for resume writing which may include; proper introduction, objective
statement, summary of qualifications, employment history, skills set, academic
background and references. He must be very careful in giving true, relevant and
personalized information. A resume for a specific job must contain specified
